DID YOU KNOW THAT RECONSTRUCTING A BACKCOUNTRY TRAIL CAN COST UP TO $50,000 PER MILE?

Trails in the Santa Catalinas have been neglected since the Forest Service disbanded its in-house trail crew in 1991. Volunteers have stepped up and helped to maintain the most popular trails, but several designated backcountry trails have disappeared due to neglect. It is on those trails -- far from the madding crowd -- that one finds quiet, solitude and wildlife.

Friends of the Santa Catalina Trails plans to reconstruct our backcountry trails with paid trail crews. State and federal grants are available to bring in paid crews, but our organization must pay those crews from our own revolving fund first; only then will we be reimbursed by each grant. Will you help us build up a revolving fund to pay a trail crew in 2023?

FSCT is run by volunteers, but we have monthly expenses in addition to the trail reconstruction revolving fund. For example, your donation of $20 will pay SquareSpace for this website for one month. $50 will help us advertise for volunteers and donations on Facebook. $100 will buy several tools. $200 will help pay our digital consultant and website designer for one month. $500 or more will help build the revolving fund for trail reconstruction.

Thank you so much for your gift -- of whatever size. This is a people-powered organization. We build trails, we build community, and with your help, we will be able to restore many miles of trails.

Your donation is tax-deductible. Friends of the Santa Catalina Trails is a 501(c)(3) organization.
